Ausgangssituation
Die Justiz in Senegal fällt rechtliche Urteile, die wenig vorhersehbar sind und nur unsicher umgesetzt werden. Das führt ebenso wie Korruption und illegale Finanzströme dazu, dass die Bevölkerung Staat und Justiz misstraut.
Die Senegales*innen benötigen mehr Zugang zu Einrichtungen, die ihre Rechte durchsetzen. Zivilgesellschaftlich Engagierte in diesem Bereich brauchen mehr Unterstützung. Außerdem ist es nötig, illegalen Finanzströmen entgegenzuwirken. Das trägt zur Rechtsstaatlichkeit in Senegal bei.
Ziel
Staat, Justiz und Zivilgesellschaft verhelfen der senegalesischen Bevölkerung, besonders Frauen, zu ihren Rechten und dämmen illegale Finanzströme und Korruption erfolgreich ein.
Vorgehensweise
Das Vorhaben versetzt staatliche und zivilgesellschaftliche Vertreter*innen in die Lage, den Zugang zu Recht zu fördern und gegen illegale Finanzströme vorzugehen. Dafür bietet es unter anderem Fortbildungen an, organisiert Dialogformate zwischen den Verantwortlichen und finanziert Kampagnen, die Wissen zu Rechten verbreiten. Hiervon profitiert vor allem die senegalesische Bevölkerung und besonders die Frauen. Das Vorhaben arbeitet dabei mit dem senegalesischen Justizministerium zusammen.
 

Context
The judiciary in Senegal hands down legal rulings that are often unpredictable and only enforced inconsistently. Alongside corruption and illicit financial flows, this leads to widespread public mistrust in both the government and the justice system.
People in Senegal need better access to institutions that uphold their rights. Civil society actors in this area require greater support. There is also a need to take action against illicit financial flows. This will help to strengthen the rule of law in Senegal.
Objective
The state, judiciary and civil society are helping the people of Senegal – especially women – to assert their rights, while successfully curbing illicit financial flows and corruption.
Approach
The project enables representatives from government and civil society to promote access to justice and take action against illicit financial flows. It does so by offering training courses, organising dialogue formats between key decision-makers, and funding campaigns that raise awareness of rights. The main beneficiaries of this are the people of Senegal, particularly women.
The project is working in partnership with the Senegalese Ministry of Justice.
