Ausgangssituation
Seit dem Bürgerkrieg ab April 2023 hat sich die Lage im Sudan drastisch verschlechtert. Rund elf Millionen Menschen sind innerhalb des Landes auf der Flucht, mehr als drei Millionen sind in die Nachbarländer geflohen. Rund die Hälfte der sudanesischen Bevölkerung ist von Hunger bedroht, die Gesundheitsversorgung ist unzureichend. Besonders Flüchtlinge aus Nachbarländern wie Äthiopien und Eritrea, Binnenvertriebene und Frauen leiden unter der Situation im Land. Sie sind öfter von Gewalt betroffen, finden seltener eine Beschäftigung und frauengeführte Unternehmen haben es schwerer, sich zu etablieren.

Ziel
Die wirtschaftliche und soziale Teilhabe von Flüchtlingen aus Äthiopien und Eritrea, Binnenvertriebenen und Bewohner*innen der aufnehmenden Gemeinden, besonders Frauen und Mädchen, ist im Sudan verbessert.

Vorgehensweise
Das Projekt unterstützt Klein- und Kleinstunternehmerinnen mit Bargeld sowie mit Anschubfinanzierungen, um ihre Geschäftsideen zu realisieren. Für Flüchtlinge, Binnenvertriebene und Bewohner*innen der Aufnahmegemeinden bietet es Weiterbildungen und Trainings an. Diese sollen Kleinstbetriebe fördern und damit Einkommen sichern, zum Beispiel durch Gemüseanbau und Verkauf.

Für Frauen und Mädchen organisiert das Projekt psychosoziale Dienstleistungen und Trainings, die ihnen helfen, ein selbstbestimmtes Leben zu führen. Frauenzentren setzt es instand und baut diese neu auf, um sichere Räume zu bieten.

Zudem unterstützt das Projekt Frauenorganisationen und bietet Weiterbildungen an, die Frauen bei eigenen Projekten helfen. Austauschformate zwischen lokalen und von Flüchtlingen geführten Organisationen fördern außerdem den Dialog und die Zusammenarbeit untereinander.

Die Maßnahmen setzt das Projekt über internationale Nichtregierungsorganisationen um, die mit lokalen Organisationen eng kooperieren. Aufgrund des Konfliktes im Land realisiert das Projekt zurzeit alle Maßnahmen regierungsfern. 

Context
Since the outbreak of civil war in April 2023, the situation in Sudan has deteriorated dramatically. Some 11 million people have been displaced within the country, while more than three million have fled to neighbouring countries. Around half of the Sudanese population is at risk of hunger, and health care is inadequate. Refugees from neighbouring countries, such as Ethiopia and Eritrea, internally displaced people and women, in particular, are suffering as a result of the situation in the country. They are more frequently exposed to violence, are less likely to find work, and women-led businesses have a harder time becoming established.

Objective
The economic and social empowerment of refugees from Ethiopia and Eritrea, internally displaced people and residents of host communities, especially women and girls, is improved in Sudan.

Approach
The project provides cash and seed capital to women micro and small entrepreneurs to support them in making their business ideas a reality. It offers continuing education and training for refugees, internally displaced people and residents of host communities. This is intended to support micro-enterprises and thus secure people’s incomes, for example from growing and selling vegetables.

Additionally, the project organises psychosocial services and training for women and girls to help them to lead a self-determined life. It renovates and builds women’s centres to offer safe spaces.

The project also supports women’s organisations and offers continuing education to help women with their own projects. In addition, discussion formats that bring together local and refugee-led organisations encourage dialogue and cooperation between them.

The measures are being implemented through international non-governmental organisations which cooperate closely with local organisations. In light of the conflict in the country, the project is currently implementing all measures without government involvement.
